Getting Off (1979)

If getting off is all you care about, then "GETTING OFF" may be the movie for you. Film students and 'cineasts' should seek out more substantial fare, as this oeuvre by Hayes DuPree is more like a plate of hors d'oeuvres than a square meal; but if spicy tidbits tickle your libido, you're going to eat this one up!

Desiree Cousteau, John Leslie, and Pat Manning are the nominal stars, but most of the really hot stuff comes from the somewhat anonymous supporting cast. DuPree has strung together some down and dirty 'loops' in a lewd necklace of carnal gems. Each sex scene is hotter and nastier than the one before, and the sound of rustling raincoats rises rhythmically from the audience as they keep time to this crescendo of lust. One is tempted to tap along.

The technique of making a feature out of unrelated sex scenes with a little "transitional material" thrown in to "tie it all together" may result in a film lacking unity in the Aristotelian sense. But who really gives a shit? I mean, we go to these things to get hot, right? If we want culture, we'll go to a film with subtitles. If we want a hard-on, we go to cinema with a capital SIN.

The transitional scenes of "GETTING OFF" are mostly lower-case; but the loops between are definitely capital X. The women seem possessed. Like sharks in a feeding frenzy, they gobble flesh and lap up the juices. Such involvement, such commitment is admirable in any endeavor; in erotic films, it's an unexpected bonus. These girls look as thought they're in it for the fun, and wouldn't stop fucking if bombs started falling.

The set-up for the story goes like this. A dominant mistress, played by Pat Manning, shows off her new sex slave (Desiree Cousteau) to one of her regular customers, John Leslie. Pat makes the girl lift her skirt for John's inspection, then slowly shoves a rose up Desiree's twat (note to the Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Pussies: the rose was de-thorned).


This whimsical entertainment stirs a flood of memories for Pat and John. "Remember the first one? Crystal was her name." And off we go to the first loop.

Ken Scudder, as a glamour photographer, is having trouble with shy newcomer, Crystal. She won't pose in the nude. Ken's assistant warms her up, and soon she is fucking and sucking like a champ. She pulls his come into her mouth with a long, lewd tongue, then takes Ken from behind. When he pops his cork, the bubbly spills over her swollen tits. She licks it off lovingly.

Crystal is next seen lunching on Rita Capps. They finger and lick each other to a fever pitch, then turn on Mike Ranger like two medieval succubi and drain him of all his love juices. He comes in Crystal's mouth, and she thoughtfully allows the sticky tuff to spill down onto Rita's waiting tongue.

The recollection of these scenes has heated the blood of Pat and John. Desiree is made to pee a bit, but that doesn't seem to cool them off. They remember Serena. Flashback.

Serena is watching a guy do a light bondage number on a girl named Becky. Serena gets so hot she starts licking the bedpost, apparently mistaking it for a mahogany cock. Then she makes it a three-way, and the girls take the guy through some movies that leave him gasping and spurting into their open mouths. They reminded me of baby birds at feeding time.

In the next vignette, Sandy Penny, in the company of a black character duded up like a Haight Street mystic, enters a room with two women and a brass bed. The girls get down while the cat with the cape does a jive rap that would have made Alistair Crowley blush. The girls suck him up so he can poke his dick between the brass bars at the foot of the bed and dip it into the steaming pussy being thrust at him from the other side. After a while he comes and goes.

Next, Connie Severs and Samantha give some lucky fellow a thorough going over. This scene is a sizzler, climaxing in a glorious sharing of the gent's copious ejaculate.

The film's finale is a set piece to warm the cockleburrs of de Sade's sinister heart. Desiree is 'initiated' into her mistress' service in a scene of sweet cruelty. She is made to remove her white dress ("You can leave your hat on") and is dangled by a rope around her wrists so that John and Pat may torment her and use her tender body for their foul purposes. First, boss-lady wants her rose back. Unceremoniously, she pulls the long-stemmed beauty at her mercy, the clams a leather collar around the girl's throat, and sticks a finger up her ass.

Desiree's peachy Alabama ass is rendered striped as a sea bass by boss-lady's cat o' nine tails, and suspended from the roof beam, the poor girl is buggered from behind by John, the Insatiable Satyr. Pat finally lets her down, but keeps her on a short leash as she forces the girl to suck John's cock till it spurts aimlessly over Desiree's pouty face.

An epilogue re-caps in montage the hottest moments of the film, and they are many.

Continuity is conspicuous by its absence, but the heat factor is intense. Not a very good movie, but a damned hot one! Before you go see it, be sure you're overcome by smoke inhalation.
