Interview: Desiree Cousteau

Desiree Cousteau is one of the best known beauties in the X-rated world. Her classic figure has devastated audiences nationwide since her debut in PRETTY PEACHES, on through her appearances in PIZZA GIRLS, DEEP RUB, and INSIDE DESIREE COUSTEAU. In all her films, Desiree projects a naive charm and a natural sexuality that have gotten her labeled the "Girl Next Door of Hardcore". a sort of Little Annie Fanny, perpetually falling prey to dirty young men and her own libido.

She's successfully parlayed her screen popularity into a hot strip act too and is one of the most accessible porn stars because of her willingness to travel to smaller burlesque houses around the US and Canada. It was during one of these engagements, at New York's Melody Burlesque that Desiree announced she was leaving films. Fans and industry alike mourn her loss and we thought we'd take this last opportunity to find out where she came from, before she's gone, and why she wants to leave all this.

CAV: How did you get into hardcore films?

DESIREE: I was a go-go girl. Then I met Alex deRenzy and he asked me if I'd like to be in a movie. That was PRETTY PEACHES, the first film I did. It was delightful and I loved every minute of it.

CAV: Were you always into sex?

DESIREE: Well, when i turned 17 all of a sudden one day I discovered sex. And that was it. I didn't do everything at one time, I kind of eased into it. But I did do all those things at a pretty tender age. I started making movies around 23.

CAV: On the whole, has making films been a good experience?

DESIREE: Oh yeah. I learned things about myself I'd never have learned otherwise.

CAV: Which film would you consider your best?

DESIREE: PRETTY PEACHES, but I like MS. MAGNIFICENT, PIZZA GIRLS, and INSIDE DESIREE COUSTEAU, too.

CAV: In a lot of your films you play this sort of daffy, naive woman who's always getting drawn into sexual activity against her will. Are you like that in real life?

DESIREE: No, because I have my very own dildo, my husband Jeff here.

CAV: Jeff, how do you feel about some of the fellows who come to see Desiree at strip clubs like the Melody or in the movies?

JEFF: I think it's really interesting, because they're all sitting there drooling over her and I take her home every night.

CAV: What would you say is the difference between working the clubs and performing in X-rated movies?

DESIREE: It's a lot easier at the clubs because you don't have to fuck anyone. Dancing's a lot easier than fucking, believe you me.

CAV: How long have you two been married?

DESIREE: About a year.

CAV: Jeff, how do you feel about Desiree's film work?

JEFF: Well, I met her on a porno set. It was my house that they were using for a location. I didn't know who any of these people were. John Holmes and Serena used to come by, and I'd make popcorn, have a beer and watch them all fuck. It was fantastic.


CAV: What's your lifestyle like out there in the wilds of L.A.?

DESIREE: Very relaxed. We're very much homebodies out there.

CAV: Do you enjoy sex as much now that you're married?

DESIREE: More, better. I like it within married life. I am definitely experiencing more sexually. I'm very old-fashioned and romantic. My husband and I don't do anything strange and kinky. The only strange thing we do is, I'll get a spanking sometimes. That's always fun.

CAV: Desiree, we imagine a lot of people in the business will be wearing black armbands now that you're not going to make any more films.

DESIREE: A lot of people have expressed that they would like me to stay in the business and I've been offered some things, but right now I want to be happily married. It was a great experience but I want to leave it now, while I still have positive feelings about it. I guess I got off on it basically because I'm an exhibitionist, but when you fuck so many people, it gets disorienting.

CAV: How do you feel about your fans?

DESIREE: I love my fans. They're no problem at all. So many people know me. They come up to me all the time. Old men and their wives will walk past me and go, "There's Peaches!" and ask for my autograph, you know. And the Melody's terrific. And even if I won't be making any more movies, they'll always be able to see me in the ones I've made.

JEFF: She enjoys making films, though. That's the only reason she's been making them since we were married. They're a lot of fun for her.

CAV: You're a very understanding person.

DESIREE: He's very good.

JEFF: I really like watching her. I really do.

DESIREE: Especially with the girls.

JEFF: Yeah, I like her with the girls. I like to watch.

CAV: We certainly don't blame you!

DESIREE: It's true. It's true. I really am like that. I've made love everywhere, in some of the strangest places. You won't believe. I did it once on a flight from Las Vegas, with a business man in the bathroom. We had a few drinks and ended up going in the bathroom at the same time. One thing led to another.

CAV: In the business, who have you most enjoyed working with?

DESIREE: Annette Haven, Seka, Jamie Gillis, and John Holmes. It was fun working with them professionally and sex-wise as well.

CAV: When you're shooting a movie and you have sex all day, what do you do at night?

DESIREE: Go home and fuck some more.

CAV: You like fucking?

DESIREE: I love fucking. I could do it all the time. It's never a chore. It keeps you healthy.

CAV: Do you like oral sex as much as intercourse?

DESIREE: I adore oral sex.

CAV: If you could do one particular kind of sex film, what would it be about?

DESIREE: Oh, you mean my fantasy fuck film? I'd like to do a Jayne Mansfield type thing. Something with a lot of lingerie, very lush and romantic.
