Hot Rackets (1979)

It Takes Balls to Play Singles or Doubles!

Starring the beautiful Candida Royalle, Rhonda Jo Petty, Desiree Cousteau, Turk Lyon & Cris Cassidy

Is it true that tennis players do it with deeper strokes? You'll find the answer in Hot Rackets, the most fascinating, expensively made, and surely the most delightful motion picture ever made for a sex-loving, fun-loving audience. Herb and Liz Adler, an indecently rich couple, are members of an exclusive tennis club whose members indulge themselves in more than a workout on the courts. We learn that the club is totally dedicated to providing for the sexual needs and fulfilling the sexual fantasies of its members.

Getting Off (1979)

CAST: Desiree Cousteau, John Leslie, Serena, Chrystal Royce, Kathy Kaufman, Ken Scudder, Pat Manning, Connie Severs, Don Gomez and San Francisco's Ultra Girls

If getting off is all you care about, then "GETTING OFF" may be the movie for you. Film students and 'cineasts' should seek out more substantial fare, as this oeuvre by Hayes DuPree is more like a plate of hors d'oeuvres than a square meal; but if spicy tidbits tickle your libido, you're going to eat this one up!

WATCH OR DOWNLOAD "GETTING OFF"

Desiree Cousteau, John Leslie, and Pat Manning are the nominal stars, but most of the really hot stuff comes from the somewhat anonymous supporting cast. DuPree has strung together some down and dirty 'loops' in a lewd necklace of carnal gems. Each sex scene is hotter and nastier than the one before, and the sound of rustling raincoats rises rhythmically from the audience as they keep time to this crescendo of lust. One is tempted to tap along.

The technique of making a feature out of unrelated sex scenes with a little "transitional material" thrown in to "tie it all together" may result in a film lacking unity in the Aristotelian sense. But who really gives a shit? I mean, we go to these things to get hot, right? If we want culture, we'll go to a film with subtitles. If we want a hard-on, we go to cinema with a capital SIN.

The transitional scenes of "GETTING OFF" are mostly lower-case; but the loops between are definitely capital X. The women seem possessed. Like sharks in a feeding frenzy, they gobble flesh and lap up the juices. Such involvement, such commitment is admirable in any endeavor; in erotic films, it's an unexpected bonus. These girls look as thought they're in it for the fun, and wouldn't stop fucking if bombs started falling.

The set-up for the story goes like this. A dominant mistress, played by Pat Manning, shows off her new sex slave (Desiree Cousteau) to one of her regular customers, John Leslie. Pat makes the girl lift her skirt for John's inspection, then slowly shoves a rose up Desiree's twat (note to the Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Pussies: the rose was de-thorned).

Sweet Dreams, Suzan (1979)

MS. PETTY IS A CONFIDENT, AGGRESSIVE SEXUAL DYNAMO!

Watch "Sweet Dreams, Suzan" in our theater

Starring: Rhonda Jo Petty as Suzan also starring: Brooke West, Blair Harris, Dorothy LeMay, Laurien Dominique, Sharon Kane, Star Would and Penelope Jones

To make a good sex film you need a good premise, one that gives the characters in the story a reason for full-tilt fucking. Some of the more familiar devices are: aphrodisiacs, hypnotism, 'magic' talismans that make the wear unbearably horny, sex machines, nymphomania - these are a few of the reasons characters may have jumping into bed and going at it hammer and tongs.

These gimmicks are useful because the performers can pull out all the stops in the sex scenes. If, on the other hand, the set-up has built-in conflict - if, for instance, the guy is trying to bed a woman who is unwilling, angry, or indifferent - the players can't really bust loose.

SWEET DREAMS, SUZAN, with Rhonda Jo Petty in the title role, has a premise that lets everyone in the picture get down as deep and dirty as they want. The sex scenes are dreamed by the leading lady, and as dream characters the performers are not bound by reality. They do what they want, with the result that the sex in this film is intense and the involvement appears genuine.
